How to find a trainer
Whether you have just added a new pet to your family, or you want to teach an old dog new tricks, you need to find the perfect trainer. How do you know how to find a trainer that will be effective AND compassionate?
Human-Animal Relationship Training (HART) has some tips to help you find a trainer in your neighborhood who will responsibly work with you and your dog to correct behaviors in a non-violent and effective manner.
Red Flags
The following are some keywords and phrases that should alarm you:
“lifetime guarantee”, “immediate compliance”, “protection”, “instant results”, “be the boss”.
Also, the use of shock collars (also called e-collars), choke chains and prong collars.
